Activities to Enjoy This Winter at Garden Cottage

If you've booked a short break or week’s stay at Garden Cottage this winter, you’ll be pleased to hear that there is plenty to keep you occupied come rain, shine or snow.  Being located on the edge of the Malvern Hills gives our visitors the opportunity to enjoy the best that Herefordshire and Worcestershire have to offer.  Whether you enjoy history or architecture, exploring beautiful gardens or sampling delicious cuisine, there is something to entertain all.

No matter what the British weather brings here’s a quick rundown of what we think you might enjoy during your winter break:

Fun Filled Family Days Out

If you’re coming to stay in Garden Cottage we've got plenty of local family friendly venues to keep you and your children amused.  During the winter months you might like to avoid the outside venues, especially when there is snow and ice on the ground, so instead why not consider taking the kids to the West Midlands Safari Park for a self-drive safari or the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo where they can get up close and personal with the insects?

For the adults?  Try the Cider Museum in Hereford where you can learn all about the history of your favourite tipple.

Historical Trips

Herefordshire and Worcestershire have plenty of history on offer with the Iron Age Hill Fort known as British Camp, Croome Court and Goodrich Castle amongst the list of places to visit all year round.

Foody Fun

Going on holiday is the perfect excuse to ditch the diet and enjoy the best of the local cuisine.  Malvern and Ledbury are known for their high quality butchers and there are pubs aplenty across the region serving a whole host of traditional and modern cuisine using locally sourced ingredients – with a couple in walking distance of the cottage.  To complement the food try a glass or two of Worcestershire cider or perry to finish off the perfect day.

When Day Moves into Night

It isn't only the daytime you’ll want to enjoy during your winter break but also those dark evenings.  Why not make the most of this time of year by taking a trip to Malvern Theatres?  Here you can enjoy a diverse selection of music, comedy, plays and film – but remember to book in advance if you want to get the best seats!

And if you just want to stay in and relax?  Do so in front of the woodburning stove – which is probably where you’ll find your canine friend if you bring them along!
